ana, short for analog, is a funny/scary art film about the issue of analog vs digital media. it took one day of gathering props (takes long when you don't have a car), two days of shooting, and another day to do sounds and editing.

ana was shot entirely with my 35mm adapter to reduce the depth of field.

sound design was a lot of fun. the baby cries you hear, at the beginning (and end) of the film, are in fact me. i hate using pre-recorded samples that someone else made, so i decided to study baby cries in hopes of being able to recreate them with my own voice. online, i found a recording of a baby cry. i downloaded it and slowed it down to half speed so that its timbre was closer to mine. after studying the sound for a few minutes, i recorded myself making crying sounds and speed them up to double speed. i must say, i'm very happy with results.
