before starting a big animation project on film, i wanted to do a low-stress simple one on video. i'd found a molecular set for free on the street, and after discovering one could make puppies with it, i knew i had to give them life. doing stop-motion animation with my particular camera setup was quite a hassle. i shot on my old vidicon tube camera which has no internal tape deck to record onto. i used its video out to go to a different camera's deck, which didn't have single frame advance, so i left it rolling the whole time. that meant that it captured me setting up each frame. so i edited out everything except the one frame i needed per frame setup. it took a few hours spread across three days to shoot it, and a few more days to record sound. i hope you enjoy it. |
