torpedo town

in the transition from junior high to high school, brendan bellomo and i thought it would be a good idea to start a rap rock group.

the self-titled is regarded as the most memorable of the three official torpedo town records. it has the most energy and the most unique sound of the three. this due to having almost all the sound clip and distort in the mix, and the unconventional rhythm tracks that barely resemble drums. another point of interest is the lyrics, which appear to have almost no meaning and tend to have made-up words thrown in.

originally this record was to have fifty tracks, but many of the songs were cut because they weren't good enough. many of these tracks ended up later on "expelled from torpedo town".

goat cheese galactic is a bit more straight forward than "torpedo town", and recorded much cleaner. there are some great tracks here, but it does lack some of the energy that the first one does. there is less hard rock influence making this album more weighted toward the hip hop side.

album cover not up yet chronicles is the third and final official record from torpedo town. there are many solid songs, but in all truth it has an unfinished sounding quality because many of the songs are instrumental and there is a lack of drums throughout many of the songs. torpedo town basically lost steam before this album was over but completed it nonetheless.

as torpedo town progressed, the albums transformed to be more and more political, and this record is at the height of that transformation. there was still a lot of room for silly tracks though, so it's still a great listen when you're not feeling the political spirit.

many more recordings have been made throughout the torpedo town career. here is a list of unofficial albums:

kingdom of fleas - the very beginnings of torpedo town recorded on a video camera. some out-takes from these sessions are seen in the film "the anthology"

eggs and sheep - early analog recordings made by bouncing from tape player to tape player for multitracking purposes

on the flowed episode - analog recording of freestyles with a story-telling-style approach. a true gem for its entertainment quality

tapestry on prison walls - another video camera session with only guitar and vocals. the most punk sounding of all the recordings

expelled from torpedo town - contains many unreleased numbers from the self-title record.

junkyard odyssey - this one is still under construction. over the years, we made around sixteen cds of freestyled material. we're not making any new material, but i'm taking some of those recordings and adding more instruments and processing them to sound more professional. the results, so far, have been possibly some of the most entertaining torpedo town material to date
